Walk 9

Walk9Korea (Contact Ms. Negishi for enquiry)

We lead pilgrimages throughout Asia that plant trees and ask the world to reject wars and choose pacifism. This way, we believe that world peace can be created. We believe that by walking and planting trees we can connect to the earth and create a civilization that is grounded and has respect for all living things. In the past, Walk 9 pilgrimages have gone to Rokkasho in Aomori Prefecture from Izumo in Shimane Prefecture. They left Izumo on the spring equinox and arrived at Rokkasho on the summer solstice in 2007.

walk9ImageFrom September 9 to December 17, 2009, we are planning a 100-day “Walk 9 Pilgrimage to Korea.” We would like first to reconnect with our closest neighbor Korea and then walk around Korea to create peace in East Asia. During this pilgrimage, we hope to share the importance and potential of Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution, the “Renunciation of War,” and encourage all the people in east Asia to adopt similar articles into their Constitutions.

The official website for our next Pilgrimage will be launched in July. Everyone is welcome. If you’re interested in joining us, please submit your name, contact information, and dates you’d like to join via e-mail. You’ll need to arrange your own transportation to the meeting places.
